We have a strong senior leadership team that operates the business day to day. Every member of the team has specific skills and qualities that enable us to work cohesively together in order to deliver on the vision, mission and values of the business and execute the strategic direction of Lanes Health.


Janet Groves - Non-Executive Chairman

Growing up as the granddaughter of the founder Gilbert Lane, Lanes Health was something that was always an important part of my life. School holidays were spent in the production area filling bottles or later collating the cheques and postal orders sent into our flourishing mail order department. Family holidays were always an opportunity for my father to look for new overseas markets and new product ideas and we spent many hours visiting potential distributers and exploring specialist retail outlets.

After leaving school I studied psychology and German at Keele University followed by a diploma in International Marketing before joining the Company full time.

Initially I worked in customer liaison, dealing with the many queries raised by customers in the days before the world wide web.

I represented Lanes Health at regular trade exhibitions and visited retailers and health professionals to do product training before becoming Chairman when my father stood down in 2001.

As a company we have always been proud to be part of the specialist health care industry and I am proud to represent Lanes on a number of important trade associations.

Jonathan Groves - Executive Chairman

My education within the business started whilst I was still in school, working on the production line and in the warehouse packing export orders during school holidays.

After completing my degree at Winchester University, I took a role as Territory Manager for the Southwest, travelling around pharmacy and health food independents.

After a few years on the road I moved into the marketing department as Trade Marketing Executive, collating, analysing and sharing important sales data from our customers.

My next role saw me become responsible for the planning and purchasing departments, a role which further developed my understanding of the throughput of the business.

I have continually developed and grown using external courses, coaches, and mentors and now help guide the Lanes Health board members in developing the visions and strategies that will move the company forward ensuring it will be positioned strongly for future generations to come.

Paul Whatley - Finance Director And Company Secretary

I lead the Finance function for all group companies, with a turnover of over £40m and am responsible for the company’s legal compliance. I am also responsible for Health & Safety, Human Resources and Business Information Systems.

I joined the company in 1996 as IT Manager, and became Finance Director and Company Secretary in 2007.
Before joining Lanes Health, I worked for the UK Ministry of Defence and British Aerospace, gaining detailed knowledge, and understanding of ERP systems, as well as safety systems.

I hold a master’s degree (MA) in Management and an MSc in Risk Management

When I am not working, I spend an average of 70 hours a week on call as a First Responder with South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust, a role I have held since 2009.



 


Aden Kelly - Sales Director

I head up the sales function here at Lanes Health, overseeing the UK, International and Contract sales operations. As a team we continue to deliver record sales, reaching more consumers and markets than ever before.

I graduated in Law & Business at the University of Hull and have over 20 years’ experience in the industry, having joined Lanes Health in 2000. Prior to joining Lanes Health, I gained retail management experience across multiple regions within Safeway as well as Blue Chip sales experience with Imperial Tobacco.

I am a highly driven strategic thinker who believes passionately about putting people first in everything we do.

Mark Horan - Operations Director

I have worked within the pharmaceutical industry for 31 years working in many areas. Sterile manufacturing, packaging, manufacturing powders and creams have all given me an insight to the world of Pharmaceuticals.

After 13 years working in a large pharmaceutical company, I came to Lanes Health where I started as the Tablet Manufacturing Shift Manager. Changing roles within the business at Lanes Health, I have been given the opportunity to expand my knowledge in the industry of OTC products and becoming a company Director.

My experience expanded when the company purchased Jakemans Confectioners Ltd, a menthol lozenge, back in 2007. My involvement with Jakemans came when I took on the role as the Operations Director for Lanes Health back in 2015.

Being the Operations Director, my teams and I have much pride in what we do for both companies producing good quality products. I have great pleasure working with a great team of Directors all working together in taking the company to new places, bringing new and exciting products to our consumers.

Rachel Davies - Technical Director

I have 34 years’ experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry encompassing big Pharma, contract manufacture and virtual pharmaceutical companies. I have extensive experience in dealing with multiple dosage forms and product classifications. My background is in analytical chemistry, and I have held leadership posts in Analytical Development laboratories, Project Management, Development and Technical departments.

At Lanes Health I am the custodian of the Quality Management System ensuring that our products meet the required quality and regulatory standards.

Lizzie Hardy - Marketing And Innovation Director

I have over 20 years’ experience in marketing and communications and have worked predominantly in the health and wellness arena over that time, which is a passion of mine.

Working with wonderful brands that I believe in, and amazing people are what drives me forward every day and over the years I have led very successful marketing teams to be the best that they can be which in turn has led to award winning businesses, products and ultimately impressive growth for those businesses.
Innovative, creative marketing campaigns, developing people and a desire to make life better for the consumer is a constant focus.

At Lanes Health I am responsible for the marketing and reputation of the business and brands internally and externally as well as driving our innovation program forward.

Mark Elton - Director of Business Information Systems

A local Gloucester boy, I started work in IT support 25 years ago with a local men’s shirtmaker. I moved on to the motor and insurance trade in London for far too long setting up dozens of car bodyshops around the country and developed a love affair with fast cars.

I transferred back to Gloucester to spend more time with my young family and started playing rugby locally which ended up with me coaching, managing and running a local club of 150 players across all ages. I now work in my spare time with local charities and community groups to provide playing opportunities across the county for children and adults as well as now supporting planting trees around Gloucester.

My hobbies include running a craft beer club, outdoor cooking, making beer (awful so far) and cider (sold in several local pubs so pretty good), owning and driving classic and sports cars, supporting my wife’s BBQ catering business at weekends and collecting comic books.

My remit at Lanes Health is to look after all things IT and Business Information Systems.
